It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Theresa Mary Woods, a lifelong resident of Peterborough, who passed away on January 16, 2025, at PRHC. She was 94 years old.
Theresa was born in Peterborough on August 19, 1930. She was predeceased by her father, Percy Holland; her mother, Virginia Holland Legro; her brother, Vincent Holland of Detroit, Michigan; and her husband of 65 years, William Joseph Woods, originally from Dumfries, Scotland.
Theresa was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her many friends and large family. She was a devoted mother to Jeffrey, Marianne, Jackie, Steve, Kathy Rochon, and Karen; cherished grandmother to Jeremy, Justin, Aaron, Jenna, Jonathan, Elise, Christopher, Abigail, Jake, Rachel, Jose, and Riley; and proud great-grandmother to Piper, Laughlin, Violet, Evie, Mattea, Landen, Leo, Hendrix, Nash, and Maxwell.
Theresa worked in various fields over the years, including retail positions at Marks & Spencer, Jack McGee, and Sears. She later enjoyed her time as a library assistant with the Catholic Separate School Board.
She had a lifelong love of sports—horseback riding as a child, and later excelling at pool and snooker (earning a reputation as a "pool shark") and horseshoes. Theresa was a longtime parishioner of the Cathedral of Saint Peter-in-Chains.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Saint Joseph’s at Fleming Care Home for their compassionate care, which gave us comfort knowing Grandma was in good hands. She passed away peacefully on January 16, with her loving son Jeffrey by her side.
Private family arrangements have been made with Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre. A public memorial funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Peter-in-Chains at a later date.
