It’s with heavy hearts that the family of Thomas Stephen (Steve) Fluke announce Steve’s peaceful passing on August 15, 2025, just shy of his 82nd birthday, at Ed’s House Hospice surrounded by family with love. Steve was predeceased by his Mother Jessie and Father Albert. Steve is survived by his wife Jan (Jeanette Power) of 58 years, son Mike, daughter Jessica (Andrew), grandsons Liam and Aidan, and beloved dog Story.
Steve worked as an Ontario Land Surveyor throughout his life and was dedicated to and proud of his craft. Steve loved to travel with Jan, be it the east or west coasts of Canada, Ireland, or Portugal. His happy place was being outdoors- whether camping, hiking forests and mountains, sailing, or kayaking the west coast and the wilderness of Ontario, to tending to his beautiful gardens at home.
Steve was a man of many talents, his passion for learning new things never ceased. From his lifelong hobbies of model railways and carpentry, to his later pursuits of learning to fly, play the bodhran and penny whistle, and most recently, horseback riding. He loved a challenge. He was witty and had a great sense of humour. His grandsons have many inappropriate “Granddad quotes” that made us laugh and will live long in our memories.
Steve will be missed by his family, friends, extended family, and many colleagues. Steve has requested a private internment with a Celebration of Life to take place on September 27th, 2025, details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre who provided such kind and tender care to him and our family. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Xi who guided his care during this challenging year.
