Passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Joan Jones-Lockington (2021) and his first wife the late Elva Lockington (1997). Proud step- father of Randy Jones (Carol), Rosemarie Delahey (Brian), Terry Jones (Heather), and Susan Kartonchik (Randy). Proud step-Grandpa of Brett Jones, Amy Jones (Peter), Cody Jones (Brianne), Connor Jones (Emily) and Sasha Jones. Predeceased by his brothers Allan (late Evangeline) and Stewart (late Clara). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Hugh was a logistics driver for CN Rail. After retiring he shuttled vehicles for Trans Canada Nissan. He was a member of St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church. Previously he belonged to St Giles Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School. He was a Master Mason of Otonabee Lodge #101 (formerly W.J. Dunlop Lodge), long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star Peterborough Chapter 161 and a member of Peterborough Valley Scottish Rite. Hugh also enjoyed dancing with the Liftlock Square Dance Club.
As per Hugh’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive guests at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, 1140 St. Paul’s Street, Peterborough from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 12: 30 p.m. followed by an Eastern Star service and then a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. A livestream of the service will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@stephenchurch6752/streams.
