Albert was born in New Jersey on August 9,1980 to Hang Phuong and Lowell Qually. He was an altruistic, creative person with a strong appreciation for the arts. Albert had a way with words, if he could have written this it would be funny, inspiring, and include words I do not know. Thankfully, we will be able to hear his words and feel his presence when listening to the many songs he wrote. When he was not spending time with his friends and family you could find him drawing, writing, biking, reading or listening to Wu-Tang.
Albert excelled in music at an early age. He was an accomplished trombone and guitar player. In Highschool Albert was nominated for the John Philip Sousa award for his outstanding musicianship and ability. After Highschool he continued his musical education at the County College of Morris where he received an associate degree in Music Recording and had the opportunity to record for Eric Clapton. Music was an important part of Albert’s life. Many of his closest friendship were made through a shared love of music.
Albert was never afraid of a new experience. After college, he pursued his dream of living in Los Angeles and creating music. During his ten years in LA, Albert enjoyed performing with his Requisite bandmates. He was honored to play at The Whiskey a Go Go, a spot many of his musical inspirations had played. Albert accomplished a lot while living in LA, but the friendships he made were what he was most proud of.
He moved back to NJ to be with his family while his mother battled breast cancer. Albert always made family a priority. When his mother’s cancer went into remission, Albert moved to Sunnyside Queens, New York. While living in NY he embraced the world of film. Albert had a love for movies and appreciated all aspects of the film making process. He acted in independent films, plays, did voice over work, and of course friendships were made.
Albert later moved to Austin, Texas to join his mom, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Grandmother. His mother’s cancer returned after years of being in remission. He took care of his mother and made sure she enjoyed new foods, movies, and experiences until she passed in 2023.
Albert loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit multiple countries. One of his favorite trips was to Hawaii, which was the setting of his favorite series “Lost.” Albert loved being near water, especially the ocean. His most recent adventure was to Peru. This trip was very meaningful to him, he left Peru with great appreciation and of course new friends.
Albert had a variety of jobs throughout his life, but his current job at Terra Toys in Austin was the one that brought him the most happiness. Albert truly looked forward to being at work with his Terra Toys family and found fulfillment in being part of something that brought joy to so many.
Albert was extremely talented, his greatest gift being his ability to connect with people. He was selfless and generous. Albert showed “Love and Respect” often and was always there for his loved ones. Receiving a random text from Albert could make you smile, laugh, or cry. Wish we could get one more P.P.S. Albert will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him and to feel his genuine kindness.
