September 8, 1956 to March 28, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Garza Gonzalez on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the age of 59. Alfred battled the complications of diabetes for several years.
Alfred was born in Austin, Texas at Brackenridge Hospital to John Charles Gonzalez Jr. and Carmen Garza. He attended Ridgetop Elementary, Webb Junior High, McCallum High, and Round Rock High, where he graduated and received his diploma with the class of 1975. He loved the Austin area so much that he declined to live anywhere else.
Alfred’s greatest love was music. He was admired and appreciated as a talented and dedicated trumpet, flugelhorn, and trombone player. Alfred was a well-known musician and played a part in the Tejano music circuit in Austin and surrounding areas. He had the heart of a true musician.
Alfred is survived by his mother, Carmen Gonzalez; brothers, John (Laura), Julian (Linda), and Jaime (Silvia) Gonzalez; sisters, Virginia Pizano (Antonio) and Rose Anna Stewart; daughter, Catarina E. Gonzalez (Johnny Joe Quinones), and son, Alfred Jr. (Christina). Alfred is also survived by grandchildren, Elena M.
