He was a true patriot. He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years before he retired as a Master Sergeant. He was also honored by President Ronald Reagan. He was involved with many different tours including Desert Storm. He traveled all over the world before he settled in Austin TX. He enjoyed Spanish music but Country music was his love. He loved to dance and made many friends everywhere he went. Everywhere from South 40, Dallas Night Club, Ropers, Grahams to Mavericks.
He was survived by 4 children: Eduvina Benavides, Alonzo Benavides Jr., Marcos Benavides, and Heather Moore. He also had 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He loved his family and his all his dogs, especially his grandchildren being a big kid himself. He loved having family get togethers and cooking his famous brisket. His smile is one that you can’t wait to see again. His laughter is one that stuck with you. His conversations were something you’d never forget. He always made you a friend with a handshake or a hug.
He was loved by many, not just by his children and their families but by everyone who crossed his path in life. He will be missed at home, family events, and the dance halls.
A visitation for Alonzo will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A graveside service will occur Saturday, July 9, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
