Barbara J. Compton

Barbara Jean Wilson Compton was born May 1, 1951 in Austin, TX to J.O. & Cleo Wilson, Jr. When coming home for the first time from the hospital, she discovered a wonderful sister, Martha, waiting at home. Barbara graduated from J.H. Reagan High School in Austin, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She went to work for the State during the summer and continued working 20+ years at the Department of Health and Human Services. In 1978, Barbara married Robert (Bob) Malcolm Compton and was honored to be a stepmom to Atesha Compton. Soon, son Chris Compton was born and eighteen months later daughter Jennifer joined the family. Barbara passed away early in the morning of September 19, 2012. Barbara’s work with the State was challenging, rewarding and led to some great friendships. The joy of her life was her family and being able to spend time with them.

Barbara was predeceased by her father, J.O. Wilson Jr. She is survived by her mother Cleo Wilson, husband Bob Compton, stepdaughter Atesha Compton, son Chris, daughter Jennifer, sister Martha Althaus and Steve Althaus, brother in-law David Compton and Katherine along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road in Pflugerville, TX. An escorted procession will follow to Austin Memorial Park for committal services.
