

Eileen Smith was the first of 8 children born to Fred and Beatrice Doherty of Brockton, Massachusetts. She was raised in a very close and loving family environment. Her Father was a fireman for the city for many years.
Eileen is survived by 4 sisters, Barbara Keohane of Brockton MA, Kathy of Clearwater, FL, Elle Beliveau of Sewell, NJ, and Gracie Orcutt of Brockton MA and 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving brothers Bob, Jerry, and Buddy.
Eileen was married in May of 1943 to Emmin Eugene Smith at a service in Fort Bening, GA where Gene became an army Ranger serving in, the Korean Conflict and also served as member of the Pennsylvania National guard for many years before retiring from the military.
Eileen and Gene had 3 children, the first Terry Alan Smith was born in 1948; then Kevin Michael Smith in 1953 and Patricia Elaine Smith in 1957.
Eileen was a very capable, competent and diligent worker and worked at a number of jobs. Her first job was at The Bell Telephone Company in Brockton MA during the War II era she worked producing flack curtains for B-17 aircraft for the war effort. When Eileen and Gene settled in Erie, PA she worked for 'Our Lady of Peace' Catholic school in Erie. PA as the managerial office secretary for 16 years. Eileen and Gene were devout Catholic Church members of Our Lady of Peace.
In July of 1975, Gene Smith, owner and operator of W.E. Smith and Sons automotive machining shop, unexpectedly passed away at 55 years of age.
In the early 1980's, Eileen moved from Erie, PA to the Houston, TX NASA area with grandson Joel Smith where all 3 of her children lived at the time. At one time all her children worked at the Johnson Space center for different aerospace contractors.
While in Houston, Eileen worked for M. David Lowe, personal service agency for 2 years and also for the First City Bank, in Downtown Houston for 5 years before going to work for Electronic Data Systems Star Health Plan Division administration facility where she worked for 10 years.
Eileen Retired May of 1996 and during this time in Houston, raised her grandson Joel, she lived close to her 2 children, One, Patricia, having moved to Connecticut where she started flying as a commercial helicopter pilot after working for General Dynamics working on Nuclear Submarine construction. Eileen always enjoyed her children and grandchildren’s company on their frequent visits.
In 1996 Eileen moved to Florida with Patty in Punta Gorda Isles on the south west Florida coast, and they frequently enjoyed travelling around the entirety of Florida in Patty's helicopter for about 5 years, and loved every minute. Patty eventually accepted a position as an EMS helicopter pilot that required relocating to the Fayetteville/N.W. Arkansas area.
In 2002, Terry moved Eileen back to Texas, to the Austin area to be near her son who has lived and worked in the Austin area for more than 30 years, and his wife Lonnye, where she enjoyed senior living, numerous friends and of course frequent family visits. Lonnye visited Eileen nearly every day and is a beloved member of the family giving care and close friendship to Eileen.
Eileen was always known to have a kind word and an even kinder heart to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was loved by a great many and will be dearly missed in her passing.
