He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized.
He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Elgin, Texas. He entered the US Navy in April 1952, and remained until his Honorable Discharge.
He worked in various jobs in the Austin area for many years. Later he moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked for J. Weingarten, Inc. until his retirement.
He united with New Jesus Way Bible Fellowship Church in Houston, Texas, where he was loved and respected by the Pastor and congregation and remained faithful until his illness in December 2008.
Left to cherish memories of his life are his nieces: Mrs. Sharon L. Thompson (Alvin), of Brenham, Texas; and Ms. Glenda F. McBride, of Elgin, Texas; Stepdaughter Brenda Hansberry, of Pflugerville, Texas; two great nephews, Boyce Wayne Loving, and Cameron James Thompson; aunt, Delphine McBride, of Waco, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.
