Bob graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas and received a B.S. from the University of Texas, College of Pharmacy in 1967. He married Beverley S. Ward of Austin, TX on September 1, 1962 and they were married for 57 years.
Mr. Stengel worked at Ace Drug Mart for many years starting as delivery driver in 1960 and eventually becoming a Pharmacist, VP and Owner. While at Ace Drug, he made many lifelong friends, mentored countless pharmacy and non-pharmacy students and cared for the thousands of Austinites and Brykerwood neighbors that walked in the doors of his West 35th pharmacy. In 1990, he went to work for the Texas Dept. of Human Services. As a Pharmacist Surveyor for the State, he inspected LTC facilities and investigated complaints. After 20 years with the TDHS, Bob retired in late 2010. He was a member of Capital Area Pharmacy Association, Texas Pharmacy Association and was a Texas Exes Life Member.
Bob had a love of Longhorn sports, all of the NCIS and Chicago TV programs, joking around and lunches with friends. He also enjoyed spending time with the family German Shepherds, even though they may not have appreciated his yelling at the Texas football game on TV.
