Catherine Moss Lasseter was the dearly loved and last child of eight born to Alice Catherine and Hugh L. Moss on January 12, 1923. Her brothers and sisters all predeceased her. She was a native of Westover Community, outside Jackson, TN and grew up on the family farm. Members of her family were among the founders of Westover Baptist Church, and all of her life she has been a strong Christian woman of faith and committed to her Southern Baptist religion. Catherine and her late husband Dudley visited all 50 states and many foreign countries, and they were stationed with the USAF in Germany. They moved to Austin in 1969. Catherine had the special gift of hospitality and loved entertaining family and friends. She also gained tremendous satisfaction from planting and nurturing her yard and garden. Her tomatoes were legendary. She was a loving and loyal friend as well as a sweet grandmother.
Catherine, also known to friends as Cathy, is survived by her daughter, Martha Tim Latta and son-in-law, John, her grandchildren Richard and Catherine Anne who was named for her, great grandchildren Calvin and Lily. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends will remember her so fondly. The Rev. Dr. F. Leslie Kammerdiener, her fiancé who brought her roses from his garden everyday will miss her dearly. Thanks to Peggy Thompson and Nettie Curry for their care and devotion.
