

Charles R. “Bob” Brandon Jr. died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the age of 88. Bob was born in Dallas, Texas on February 12, 1926 to Beulah and Charles R. Brandon Sr. Bob served in the U.S Navy during World War II aboard the USS Sangay AE-10 in the Pacific area and was honorably discharged in 1946. Bob attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Bob spent his entire career working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. (now AT&T) in their engineering department. After starting work in Lubbock, Bob was later promoted and transferred to Austin where he retired in 1985 after 36 years with the phone company.
Bob married Mary Dorman on June 29, 1969 and they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage together. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Rene’ Miles of Weatherford, Texas, stepsons Guy Dorman of Lubbock and Mike Dorman and wife Pam of Dallas, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Thomason.
Bob was an avid football fan, loved a good game of bridge, was a self-taught organ player and took pride in keeping a well-manicured yard. Bob also bowled for many years, with a high game of 278 plus winning many trophies and awards.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home located at 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660 on Thursday, July 17 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 18 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that gifts be made to “Complete the Vision (4H Cabin) Fund” c/o Tarrytown United Methodist Church.
