It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Clyde Brittain on the afternoon of November 23, 2024. Chuck passed away peacefully at home in Round Rock, TX, surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia. Chuck was 80 years old.
Chuck was born September 19, 1944, in Saybrook, IL. He was the fourth child of Clyde and Ruth Brittain. He graduated in 1962 from Saybrook-Arrowsmith High School and graduated college from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1967. Right after college, he entered the Army and was stationed in Vietnam. Shortly after returning home, he moved to Texas and started his first business, a franchise of Glass Specialty Systems, with his brother, John, and their business partner, Larry Bannon. Years later, Chuck and some other partners formed MAGIC Auto Glass. Chuck loved his businesses and was fortunate to work with friends and family for many years. He retired from the auto glass industry in 1988.
Chuck met his wife Diane in 1970, and they married that same year. They celebrated 54 years of marriage just two days before Chuck passed. Chuck and Diane enjoyed traveling together, bowling, and playing bridge with friends. They also loved supporting their Longhorns and attending UT basketball games together.
Chuck was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Terri K. Brittain; his father, Clyde Brittain; mother, Ruth Brittain; brother, John Brittain; and sister, Joan Harrigan.
