The extraordinary and beloved Clare Lynn Hudson, age 66, of Austin, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was born in Oakland, California, and welcomed into the hearts of Charles D. and Freda Hudson. The family, soon to include brother, Paul, moved to Texas in her early years and found a home in the Austin area. Over the years, Lynn welcomed the additions of niece, Britney, nephew, Cole, and two wonderful great-nieces, Madison and Olivia.
While growing up, Lynn spent many happy summers on family road trips, in swimming pools, at libraries, and at the Girl Scout camps, Rio Blanco and Camp Mary White. These camps, particularly CMW, remained an important part of Lynn’s life. She moved from camper to counselor, served as the camp nurse, and was a champion, mentor, and inspiration to many young women. She earned the prized camp name of Bili, a reference to Billy the Kid in allusion to what some may say was her mischievous nature and indomitable spirit. And Bili she remained to the lifelong friends made through camp, including Scholar, aka Melissa Moir, who she kept, though Melissa will say it was the other way around.
Lynn attended college at West Texas State University and later, Angelo State University, then went on to careers as a veterinary technician and then with the Texas Department of Public Safety. She embodied the DPS motto, “Courtesy, Service, and Protection,” as she served the people of Texas for over 20 years. Along this journey, she gathered a close-knit group of coworkers, many of whom became cherished friends, through deep conversations and a well-honed sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Satellite Dialysis who gave us more years to cherish her and be the beneficiaries of her generosity, intense and loving spirit, and brilliant insight.
To all the loved ones she left behind, she wished you to know that she was off on her next great adventure. Memorial contributions may be made in Lynn’s name, aka Bili, to Friends of Camp Mary White, through their website at https://www.friendsofcampmarywhite.com/.
