Clarence M. Wilson, Jr. passed away on January 22, 2018 in Austin, Texas. He was born in Temple, Texas in the original Scott and White Hospital. Being born on an Easter Sunday, he was gifted with a white rabbit. At an early age, he accompanied his father and mother, Clarence and Zelma Mabry Wilson, onto several farm and ranching activities. The most recent location was in the Wilson community outside of Rosebud, Texas, where he graduated from Rosebud High School. He was known in his early years to his family and friends as CM since his father was well known as Clarence. During his teen years, he assisted his parents in the ranching business. At the same time, he was a western band leader until he entered the army at the beginning of World War II.
Clarence served as a Medical Administrative Officer mostly in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. His last service in the medical field was Commander of the medical supply depot in Darwin, Australia. He left the army in 1946 to try his luck as a medical supply representative.
After a short time, he joined the Air Force and served until retirement as a Budget and Accounting Officer. He had qualified for the latter profession through his night attendance to several eastern colleges before leaving the Army and Air Force. Rather than a specific college degree, his education accumulation was documented by successfully completing the 2-year college GED and later the 4-year college GED. His first Civil Service position after leaving the Air Force was as the Budget Officer for Bergstrom Air Force. He retired from this service in 1973 to pursue civilian activities, investments, and tax related fields.
Clarence began a successful tax service in 1953 which included programming and data processing and he served as the President and CEO of this corporation for many years. During the 1980's and 1990's, he served as the President and CEO of two nursing homes, one of which he established. He finally retired after disposing of the business and selling the two nursing homes.
