Diane was born in Poteet, Texas on November 28, 1937, but spent most of her life living in Austin, Texas. She attended Austin public schools and graduated from Austin High School in 1956. Afterwards, she took classes at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. Diane spent her career as an administrative assistant, working in that capacity for over 25 years with the Texas Department of Human Resources. She was also a member of the Texas Public Employees Association. She served her community as a Sunday School Teacher and as a volunteer with the March of Dimes. While Diane enjoyed her career and volunteer work, she retired shortly after her husband of over 49 years, Alvin B. Williams, retired so that they could spend time together doing the things they enjoyed. Those things were primarily hunting at and enjoying their ranch in the Texas Hill Country, spending time and playing cards with family both near and far, and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events and performances.
Diane was most recently a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted fan of University of Texas Athletics, especially Texas Women’s Basketball. For years, Diane, along with Alvin, attended most home games.
Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband Alvin B. Williams. She is survived by her children Pam and Phil Baker of Taylor, Cindy and Tommy Cardwell of Pflugerville, Christy and Randall Dillard of Pflugerville, Craig and Nora Williams of Bainbridge Island, Washington; grandchildren Andrea and Sef, Paul and Amy, Phillip, Brandis and Mark, Carley and William, Brandon and Marsha, Brent and his fiancée Lindsey, Christopher, Isabel and Caleb; and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, December 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held the same day at 2:00 p.m. Both visitation and services will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. The family would like to thank the kind staff at St. David's North Austin Medical Center and the staff at Altus Hospice for their care and support.
