She was born in Sweetwater, Texas on October 21, 1930 to Robert and Sallie Mae McAnally. Doris graduated from Austin High in 1950.
Doris grew up in Austin where she met the love of her life, James “Jimmie” Parker. They married on August 12, 1950; they spent 66 years together until he passed in 2016. The couple lived in Austin where they began their family; Doris and Jimmie raised two sons, William Lee “Bill” and James Robert “Bobby.”
Doris worked for the State of Texas and retired from the Office of the Secretary of State. In their free time, she and Jimmie took their sons on great vacations and traveled the United States, driving thousands of miles to countless destinations with the family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sisters, and friends and playing cards and other games.
Doris is survived by her sons: William Lee “Bill” and his wife, Regina, and James Robert “Bobby” and his life partner, Gloria Markham. She will be remembered by many for her love of animals, playing games, gambling in Las Vegas and Louisiana; she will be missed by all that loved and knew her.
