

Earl I. Williams, age 92, was born August 18, 1918 in Hastings, Oklahoma and died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Lighthouse Hospice at Altenheim in Round Rock. Earl was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olene Williams; parents Isaac and Oma Williams of Hastings, Oklahoma; and Roney Williams of Hastings, Oklahoma; Bertie Glaspy of Bertram; Aubrey Williams of Corpus Christi; and Chester Williams of Austin.
Earl is survived by one son, Jerry Williams and daughter-in-law Wanda of Austin; one daughter, Dorinda Williams of Georgetown; his twin sister, Muriel Barnes of Ft. Worth; and two brothers, Frank William of Hastings, Oklahoma and George Williams of Austin. He is also survived by one grandson, Dyron Earl Williams and wife Marlo of Geneva, Illinois; three granddaughters, Brooke Cabianca of Keller, Brandi Cummins and husband Kevin of Round Rock, and Tiffany Williams of Round Rock. He has two great-grandsons, Wesley Stark and Parker Cabianca; five great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Williams, Amber Goins, Hailey Cabianca, and Morgan and Devin Stark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl moved to Austin, where he worked at the State Hospital, until he left for World War II in December 1941. He was an airplane mechanic during the war and treasured his friends. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army Air Force Base Unit 2026th on November 28, 1945. At that time he moved back to Austin, and worked as a carpenter until he started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until his retirement in 1983.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He could hunt or trap anything, and when he wasn’t hunting, he was fishing. Later in life he chose to fish close to home at Decker Lake, where he was well known as the “man who could catch anything.” He would often share his catch with the other fisherman at the lake, who would ask him “how did you catch all those fish?”
There will be a visitation for family and friends Wednesday, January 19, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
