

Geraldine Lee (Patrick) Wines, affectionately known as “Jeri” was born on March 17, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Joseph and Bertha “Birdie” (Maddex) Patrick. At the age of 81, during the day of September 6, 2023, in Austin, Texas, Jeri embarked on her eternal journey.
In her early years, Jeri attended a Catholic girl’s school, St. Joseph’s Academy in Des Moines, Iowa. While working at a downtown cinema as a ticket cashier, she met Gerald “Roger” Wines. They fell in love and were married at the First Methodist Church, in Ankeny, Iowa.
Jeri was very active in the community and had long-standing commitments to multiple organizations. She was a City of Austin, Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, an Austin Aqua Festival events volunteer for over 25 years, as well as a Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo Board Member and Ambassador for over 15 years.
Bowling was Jeri’s passion from when her parents introduced her to the sport as a junior bowler in Des Moines. During her bowling career, Jeri taught children on Saturday mornings and was a league bowler for over 50 years. She was a lifetime volunteer serving in all officer positions of the Austin Women’s Bowling Association lasting over 30 years. Jeri’s dedication continued extending to the state level where she served as director in the Texas WBA for three years and subsequently after their merge, held the position of director on the Texas State USBC for another seven. She collected awards at the local, state, and national levels culminating with her being inducted into the USBC Texas State Hall of Fame.
In addition to working at Cavender’s Boot City for 20 years, Jeri was an Amway direct distributor with her husband for over 40 years. Her other passions were her faith, bowling, and volunteering. She was a devoted member of the Altar Guild at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King.
Jeri was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Patrick; her mother, Birdie Patrick; her sister, Priscilla “Pat” (Patrick) Flanders and her nephew Peder Patrick. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gerald “Roger” Wines; her children, Richard, Kenny, Kimberly, and Patrick; her grandchildren, Christopher, Jenness, Jade, Matthew, Shay, Aaron, Brandy and Amanda; her great grandchildren, Victoria, Daxton and Connor; her nieces Valerie and Theresa; and her great grandnieces Abbey and Mary.
Services will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35, Austin, Texas, 78660. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 3-5pm. On Monday, September 18 the, the funeral service will be at 10 a.m., with a graveside burial following for all who would like to attend. For those unable to be present, there will be a livestream of the service that can be accessed from the funeral home's website.
