

Gloria Irene Carpenter was born August 28, 1928, to William Virgil Carpenter and Mary Lou Lindsey Carpenter. She was raised in the small town of Hamburg, Arkansas. She attended Hamburg Schools Where she played basketball, was the Drum Major and Homecoming Queen, at Hamburg High School. Gloria met and married Hugh Albert Dreher. They married January 2, 1948, and had 4 children: William (Bill) Albert Dreher, Jana Lou Dreher Jones, Martha Carolyn Dreher, and Kimberly (Kim) Ann Dreher Jackson. Gloria is survived by her son, Bill and two daughters Martha and Kim. Also surviving Gloria are 7 grandchildren: David Dreher, Lauren Dreher, Shirley Jones, Keith Jackson, Rachel Jackson, Taylor Garrett, and Dalton Grill, 8 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Being raised in a devoted Christian home she made the decision to give her life to Jesus Christ as a young girl. Living her life a true mirror of God’s Mercy and Grace. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Family was the most important part of her 96 years. Her early life in Austin, Texas with husband Hugh was filled with raising 4 energetic kids, bowling, water skiing, swimming, and traveling. When the youngest child went to school she went to work for the Teacher Retirement System in Austin, retiring from Austin American Statesman after many years in the 1980’s. She was a longtime member of Promiseland Church in Austin. Gloria cherished her friendships from church, having fond memories of fishing and traveling with the girls.
Gloria spent the last years of her life at Senior Living Apartments, where she made countless friends, doing arts & crafts or playing bingo. She was so grateful to have those friendships and loved each of them. In her 80’s she met Nolan Morgan. They were married on February 12, 2016. Nolan was a delight and blessing to Gloria and her family, until his passing.
Gloria always had a smile, treated all with love and grace. Gloria will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends. We thank God for the Privilege of calling her mom, grandma, great-grandma, great-great grandma, and friend.
A funeral service for Gloria will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
