He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Hashem Jr. and Elizabeth Ortiz Hashem; maternal grandparents, Maximiliano and Cleotilde Ortiz; and paternal grandparents, Mona and Joe Hashem Sr.
He is survived by his son, David Joseph Hashem; sister, Alfrieda Hashem; half-brother, Joe Ortiz; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He was eternally optimistic, no matter what life brought. He had a great devotion to care for his sister, for which he took responsibility for many years. He took great pride in his son, whom he helped raise to be a fine young man. Joe is greatly loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial visitation on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a rosary prayer service at 6:00 pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
