

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen Ruth Davidson Swenson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on June 3, 2025. Born in Austin, Texas on November 15, 1946, she was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. Helen graduated from Durham Business College after high school and went back later to finish her bachelor’s degree, graduating in May of 1993 from Southwest Texas State University.
Helen married the love of her life on February 20, 1965, and they celebrated 60 amazing years together earlier this year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olan and Florence Davidson, and her sister Judy. Helen is survived by her husband James, brother Don (Nita), children Jimbo (Debbie) and Keith (Kathy), grandchildren Desi (Rex), Jade, Trey, Shelby (Joel), Kelly, and Cody, and great-grandchildren Ashton and Abby along with another great-granddaughter on the way.
Helen, known by most as Memaw, was a pillar of her community, always ready with a warm hug and comforting presence. She took immense pride in her family and loved hosting everyone for holidays and other occasions.
Helen’s loves included gardening, growing flowers, canning fruits and vegetables from her garden, sewing, and traveling. She was still riding roller coasters at the age of 75.
Helen found joy and happiness in all aspects of her life, and she will be greatly missed by everyone in her life. She passed away surrounded by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in the Walden Room of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. The funeral service to celebrate Helen's life will follow at 2:00 PM, the interment will immediately follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
