Herman Doy Mitchell, Doy as everyone knows him, of Jarrell, Texas, passed away on December 5, 2016, after a long, hard fought battle with many health issues. Doy was born to Herman Mitchell and Melba Broome Mitchell on August 16, 1959, and he was raised in Beaumont, Texas with his older sister, Elizabeth (Becky) Mitchell.
Growing up Doy was wild and crazy. He and his sister Becky had a strong bond and it only grew stronger as they aged. They remained close, up until his passing. Doy loved mechanics and loved fixing things. He obtained certificates in different mechanical fields. He was a hard worker and prided himself in a job well done.
Doy later had one son, Eric Mitchell, a daughter (in-law), Kim, and a grand-dog, Honey Badger (whom he spoiled rotten).
Doy had a love for God, a love for this Country, and a love for his family. If you messed with any of these things, Doy had a big problem. Even in his toughest and most trying times he still professed his love for Christ and it was a true testament to his faith. Doy loved this Country and had the utmost respect for America and all of those who served. Family was another big part of Doy’s life and he would do anything to make sure his family was cared for and happy.
Doy loved listening to music and was constantly singing old school rock and roll. He loved taking his grand-dog, Honey Badger, for daily walks and going for bike rides. He also loved sporting events. He loved seeing the Round Rock Express play and he loved going with his son, Eric, to watch Kim play softball and kickball. But, if you were to have asked Doy, he would tell you he was the best softball left fielder to ever walk the earth. Nothing ever hit the ground in left field in his playing days. However, out of everything, the thing Doy loved the most was riding around town with his son, Eric, laughing, joking, and just having good ol’ fashioned trash talk, like only a father and son can do.
Doy is preceded in death by his father, Herman Mitchell, his mother, Melba Broome Mitchell, and his grandparents, Burton Broome and Carrie Pribbenow. Doy leaves behind his sister, Elizabeth Mitchell, his son, Eric Mitchell, his daughter in-law, Kimberly Kirven, his grand-dog Honey Badger, and many other close friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 8, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Cook Walden in Pflugerville, Texas.
