Ida grew up and attended grammar school in Whitwell, Tennessee. She attended and graduated from McReynolds High School in the Class of '64. After graduating, she worked at Provident (UNUM) and the TWAC in Chattanooga. She served in the United States Air Force 8 years. After service, she returned to Chattanooga and attended CSTCC to further her education and worked for the United States Postal Service for several years until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents Amos & Mae Lou Harris, brother John Harris, sisters Queen Ester 'Snook' Harris, Peggy Harris, Bessie Lou Jackson, Brothers-in-law Elmer James Jackson and R.B. Pickett, nephew George Pickett, and niece Diane Harris.
Ida Pearl Harris leaves to cherish her memory, her son and his wife, Eric Gerard and Kosha Harris; grandchildren Evey Harris of Pflugerville, Texas, Bryce Harris of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kahesha Hicks. She also leaves behind her sister Doris Harris Satterwhite of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
