Imogene Wood

Imogene Louise (Hair) Wood of Austin Texas (currently residing at New Haven Assisted Living/Memory Care in Bastrop) lost her battle with Dementia on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on September 12, 1929, in Flat, Texas to Urban and Rosa Hair. She graduated from Bertram High School in 1949.

In 1950, Imogene began dating her future husband Winfred Wood, who went by the nickname Weiner, and the two were married on May 23, 1953.

She worked at Shepherd Hospital in Burnet Tx as a Nurse until the birth of her first child in 1956. Imogene was a terrific homemaker-always keeping a spotless home, she ran a tight-ship with her kids and their manners. She always had a vegetable garden and many flowerpots with an immaculate yard helping her win “yard of the month” many times. There were many years spent at the deer lease with family members, cousins building relationships and lasting memories being made.

Imogene loved gardening (any type of yard work), she was a collector of dolls, she always had QVC on the TV and was an avid wrestling fan with WWE being her main choice to watch but most importantly her family especially during the holidays which were her favorite when everyone came over.

Imogene is survived by: Richard (Christi) Wood (son), Sherri Wood (daughter), Olivia Faz Wood (daughter-in-law), Alta Viramontes (sister), Wilma Garner (sister), Sharon (David) Fiero (sister), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces/nephews and other family members.

The family would like to thank New Haven Assisted Living/Memory Care in Bastrop and Enhabit Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Imogene the last few years but especially in her final days.

A visitation for Imogene will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. The funeral service will be held for Imogene on Sunday August 24th at 10 AM, with a burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
