Jaelithe "JJ" Kara Barr

Born on January 14, 1983, in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Shorewood, JJ was the daughter of Lois Nelson and Arthur Barr Jr (deceased). She was a proud sister to Kevin Barr, Woody Barr (deceased), and half-sister Heather Barr. She was a loving aunt to Ashton Barr, Madison Barr, Willow Barr, Aurora Barr, Austin Riha, Charlotte Riha, and Jackson Riha.

JJ married John Eeten III in 2006, and the following year they welcomed Payton Lynn into their lives on October 7, 2007. JJ’s proudest title was Mom to Payton, who passed away in 2007 at just 13 days old. JJ carried Payton’s memory with her every day of her life and would later turn her grief into action.

JJ moved to Austin in 2006 and dedicated her life to public service. She began her career with Austin-Travis County EMS on March 3, 2008, as a communications medic. Her talent, leadership, and commitment earned her promotion to Clinical Specialist in 2010 and Captain in Communications in 2013. Additionally, JJ served as an Aviation Communications Specialist for Travis County STARFlight, coordinating aeromedical response, emergency communications, and logistical support. JJ served the Austin and Travis County Communities with honor for 17 years.

After the heartbreaking loss of her daughter Payton in 2007, JJ and her then-husband, John Eeten, turned tragedy into purpose. Together, they founded the Payton Lynn Program, a nonprofit organization providing safe sleep education and free pack-n-plays to families in need. Their work was recognized statewide, earning them honors as EMTs of the Year by the 100 Club of Central Texas in 2010 and Dell Children’s Medical Center as their Champions of Safety in 2011.

JJ married Ryan Lindsay, of Prince Rupert, British Colombia, on December 13, 2023.

JJ was sharp, hilarious, fiercely loyal, and deeply committed to caring for others. Whether pulling a harmless prank or taking charge in a crisis, she left her mark with heart and humor.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Payton Lynn Eeten, her brother Woody Barr, and her father Arthur Barr Jr.

JJ’s life will be honored in a memorial service on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Services will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 North IH 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A graveside interment ceremony will immediately follow the service.
