Allen’s early years were spent under the vast Texas sky, where the values of hard work and dedication were deeply instilled in him. Some of his memories he shared were of days growing up in the country, playing and hunting with his uncles, picking cotton, and swimming in tanks. He attended McCallum High School and joined the US Navy at age 17.
He had a great passion for raising Walker hounds and enjoyed listening to his dogs run while at campfires with great friends.
Allen’s life was a testament to his loving, funny, and wise nature, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In 2011 Allen was reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Trixie. He enjoyed traveling and had so much joy when visiting with his family and friends.
Allen’s devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his sweetheart, Trixie, his children Curtis, Kenneth, Denette, Julia, Stephanie, and his siblings Jannette, Dee, and Larry.
He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. He loved supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities in sports, dance and hunting.
Allen was proceeded in death by his father Leonard David (LD), his mother Mary Jane, his brother Lloyd, and his granddaughter Staci.
