Jerry was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on November 1,1947 and grew up in Glenn Ellen, Illinois. He was a proud American and joined the Marines right out of high school. He fought in Vietnam as a gunner on a helicopter.
After his service ended, Jerry traveled the country quite a bit as a drummer in Rock and Roll bands; finally settling in Austin in 1978. Music was his life and he remained in the entertainment business, in one aspect or another, until his retirement about a year before his passing. He loved the nightclub business and was the owner of Texas Bar and Grill for about 10 years before retiring.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, his father Edward, and most recently his brother Barry.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marina; his sons Chance (Deanna) and Christopher (Shannon); grandchildren Amelia, Evelin, Brandon, Kaylee, Corrigan and great-grandson Waylon; his sisters Sandy (Jose’) and Carroll (Dennis); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.
Jerry’s dynamic personality made him loved by all who met him. He loved to read and learn and had multiple hobbies! He did so much for so many people over the years; he truly was his brothers keeper.
We would like to thank Hospice Austin for all of their help, care, knowledge, and kind services provided to us during this most difficult time. They truly helped us all they possibly could.
"I will cherish every moment of our 42 years together. He was the love of my life and my rock." ~ Marina
