Jo Ann Dickerson

Jo Ann graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas and attended Texas Southern University, also in Houston.

Jo Ann married Robert T. Dickerson (“Bob”) in September, 1956.

Her career found her involved and working for a number of non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and Huston-Tillotson University.

Jo Ann had an extreme passion for fashion (a “fashionista"), style, and also interior decorating.

Throughout her life, Jo Ann was involved in the care of her family. As members of her immediate family's health began to decline, Jo Ann stepped in and stepped up to become the daughter and big sister to her family. Insuring the health and welfare of her family was assured.

After the passing of her mother and brothers, her time was consumed with the health and welfare of her beloved husband, Bob. Carefully managing his decline in Alzheimer’s dementia caring for him to the very end.

She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert T. Dickerson, daughter, Denise Richard, son, Bobby Dickerson, daughter-in-law, Shawne Dickerson, granddaughter Andrea Sadberry Blount, and grandson Wesley Dickerson. In addition, Jo Ann had two great granddaughters, Mercedez Flood and Janessa Blount.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., July 13, 2019 at Cook-Walden /Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
