During his life, Jeff had served in the U.S. Army Reserve, had been a Minimax Grocery Store Manager, and had owned Old Hickory BBQ. He then returned to UT to fulfill his dream of becoming a band director. This career in music gave him so much joy, as he loved teaching band at Academy-Little River, C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Jarrell ISD, and Leander Middle School. Jeff was a member of Central Baptist Church of Round Rock.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Comp, and his half brother, Robert Howes. He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Sheri and son-in-law, Jeff Platzer of Round Rock; son, Cris and daughter-in-law Lynn of Portland, OR; son, Joel and daughter-in-law Cortney of San Antonio; and eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Marci, Abraham, Evan, Cristopher, Jaysen, Braeden and Ava. He is also survived by his brother, Wylie and wife Joella of Springfield, MO and several nieces and nephews.
