

Johnnie Lee Lincoln was born on January 29, 1947, to Ernestine Franks-Lincoln, in Smithville, Texas. He departed this life on August 7, 2022, at 6:59 AM with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter at his side.
He professed hope in Christ at an early age. Johnnie attended school in Smithville, Texas graduated from Mary A Brown High School, class of 1965, and competed in several UIL Band competitions. He was able to play every instrument in the marching Band and was an excellent Band Leader.
Johnnie was united in Holy matrimony to Esther Piper, on January 1, 1969. They were married 54 years. To this union, one daughter was born. He served in The United States Army, during the Vietnam Era. Thereafter, he joined the Army Reserve, while attending Austin Community College. Johnnie worked at the City of Austin as a Crew Leader and at The Texas Department of Public Safety. He was a faithful member of The Elks Lodge, had a love for music, and was a DJ in his spare time. Johnnie enjoyed cooking and attended Culinary Arts School. He was a great chef and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen as well as drawing with his granddaughter Syerra.
It was always a pleasure to listen to Johnnie. Every one of his words was meaningful and uplifting. And his sense of humor always made everyone laugh. Anyone that knows him can testify to that. He will be truly missed.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his Father Charles Sawyer, his Mother Ernestine Sawyer, and one brother Richie Van Sawyer.
He leaves to cherish his memories, The Love of his Life, Esther Mae Lincoln, daughter Yolanda Renee Lincoln-Sy, of Round Rock, Texas, and granddaughter Syerra Lincoln Sy. Three sisters, Trenita Sergent (Rick) of Smithville, Texas, Shawlee Lee of Bremerton, Washington, and Michelle Smalls of Everett, Washington. Brothers; Freddie Taylor (wife Trudi) of Dallas, Texas and, Gregory Sawyer of Smithville, Texas. Aunts Ruth Burns, Ruby Giles, Wecie Shaw, and Reverend Hopie Solomon. And many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. The committal will take place at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery after the service.
