My sincerest condolences to your family.  I was blessed with the honor of serving along side Johnny at Ft. Carson as well.  What I will never forget is Johnny's smile and his laugh.  We went through some scary and uncertain times together in A Company, 4th Engineers, but you could always rely on Johnny's smile and amazing attitude to reel you back in.  My heart is very heavy at this news, and as a father to sons of my own, I pray for your boys.  The loss has to feel unbearable, but take comfort in knowing that your father was a warrior, a role model, and a brother to all he served with.  I pray for God's blessings to your family.  Rest in Peace, Brother.    

My condolences to the family. I was truly blessed and honored to have served alongside Johnny Harper during my time at Fort Carson. My fondest memory of Johnny was how much he loved football! It didn't matter when or where it was played. What mattered was the competitive spirit of the game and how it brought us together. Gonna miss you my friend. God had just gained a great warrior. Until we meet again...

I remember the first time I got to ft Carson and assigned my company and platoon, Alpha Co.  1st platoon.  Harper was the first person to make me feel more comfortable and less like a fish out of water.   He was always good and kind to the new guys and never had negative things to say about anyone.  Rest In Peace my man, I’m sorry we didn’t get to catch up again living in the same city. 

I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Johnny. I learned so much from him about our wastewater system and was always inspired by his passion for excellence and quality work. He was a great leader and friend to many of us at Austin Water. We miss him deeply and I will always remember him as one of the greats. 

I send my deep condolences with thoughts and prayers for Johnny's family and loved ones.

My condolences to Johnny's family.No others were like him , We worked and rode together. I&I ruled.He exlempified the meaning of Brotherhood . when ever our paths crossed it was always a smile a handshake and a hug. He will be truly missed but he will never be forgotten. Until we make the next entry Mr Harper.

 I’ve known Johnny as a coworker, then as my boss for a short time after that before situation out of my control happened and put me on the water side.     Every single time I have talked to Johnny no matter what the topic  he would always smile at me, shake my hand and/or give me the give me a manly hug. Even going through his cancer and put up an awesome fight he still smiled at me and gave me a hug. I would always tell him to keep his “ eye on the prize”Through all the challenges that I knew about the Johnny went through in his life he always had that smile, that grin and would always shake my hand and give me a hug. That tells me he had a very good heart. In my opinion he is amongst us. Rest in peace my brother until we meet again not on earth 🙏

Yogi is survived by his wife Briana Lee Harper and their sons, Camden Lee Harper, Ty Keith Harper and Jax Austin Harper. Grandmother, Mary Lou Ortega, Mother and father in law Terry and Linda Irby and brother in law Eric Irby. Also surviving Yogi are two sisters, Annette Penry and Napalonia Harper as well aunts Veronica (Louis), Monica (Philip), Yvonne and numerous cousins.
