

Joseph Benjamin Jones, 72, was born to Mr. Lenton Jones Sr. and Mrs. Fanny Jones on April 9, 1938 in Plaquemine, Louisiana. On Tuesday, June 29, 2010 the sun set for Joseph at St. David North Austin Medical Center in Austin Texas. Joseph’s religious upbringing in his early life was Catholic and Baptist. Joseph later accepted Christ as an Adult.
Joseph graduated from Fifth Ward High School in Reserve, Louisiana. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Joseph enlisted into the United States Army and served a full tour of duty in Vietnam. Joseph was employed by the City of San Francisco Municipal Railway, where he received numerous awards for his dedicated services. Joseph retired after 28 years.
Joseph was an active member of the Club of the 50’s for over 30 years in San Francisco. Gardening, Carpentry, and Traveling were the passions of “Joe”. Whether traveling by hummer, plane or cruise ship, he did it his way.
Joseph was preceded in death by both his parents; Lenton Jones Sr. and Fanny Jones, as well as his brother Lenton Jones Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria Kyles Jones of Pflugerville, TX; Four sons; Kevin Benjamin Jones, Ryan Joseph Jones and wife Chastidy, Robert Joseph Jones Sr. and wife Stephanie, and Jorell Michael Jones all of San Francisco, CA.; daughter Jonissa Jones-Pritchett and husband Jessie of Sacramento CA.; stepson Orlando Allen Whitelow and wife Marie of Long Beach CA.; brother Isiah Jones and wife Lacey and sister Legertha Bell, both of Reserve LA; Sister in-law, Maria Edwards and husband William of Cleveland, OH. Brother in-law Ted Kyles and wife Gloria of Benton Harbor MI. special son Rodney Richardson of Austin TX.; godson Azlan Isaac Burns of Houston TX. Joseph will also be missed by; eleven grandchildren; Robert Joseph Jr., Ronnel, Robyn, Robert Marvell, Jasmine, Rellavon, Kai, Jessica, Christine, Attelia, and Cherise; one great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Joseph was generous to many charities. He loved and was loved by all.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010, and Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville, Texas.
