The pearly gates of heaven flung wide open as Katherine Lee Akers was received into the loving arms of our savior.
After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she is at peace. Kitty’s life on earth was full of goodness. She was a wonderful Mother, homemaker, business woman and friend. She married at 15 years old and shared a loving relationship with her husband and best friend, Frank Akers, for 64 years until his death in 2009.
Kitty is survived by her two daughters, Mary Sides and her husband, James Sides, and Donna Akers and fiancé, Mark McCaa; her grandchildren, Kristi Pena, Dondi Duffy, Graham Williams, and David Sides; and her eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or another Alzheimer’s research organization.
