Kerry Lynn Owens was born in Brady, Texas, on March 18, 1946, and passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in Round Rock, Texas. Kerry was a woman of many talents and a loving presence in the lives of those around her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and the heart and soul of her family.
Generous and humble, Kerry always put others first. Her deep faith and close relationship with God guided her throughout her life. Kerry's positive outlook and fearless nature made her a remarkable person who stood out in every way.
She grew up in Texas, New Mexico, and California, graduating from high school in Kelseyville, CA, and attending Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. In 1990, Kerry earned a BA in Art and a teaching certificate from Southwest Texas State University. An accomplished artist and educator, Kerry taught art at the elementary level in AISD for many years, earning numerous prestigious awards throughout her career and inspiring creativity in children and fostering their appreciation for artistic expression.
A long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Kerry raised her daughter Megan in the church, instilling in her a steadfast faith in God and Jesus Christ. Kerry cherished her family, friends, neighbors, and dogs Tanner and Romeo. She loved her home, community, her country, Elvis, American Idol and the Texas Longhorns.
Kerry is survived by her daughter Mary Megan Grasser and husband Joe, granddaughter Lucy Rosalie, and close companion Bobby Cox; brother Buzz Owens and wife Sue, sisters Linda Barnes and husband Sidney, Dr. Mary Bashara, Bobbie Oliver and husband Larry, Faye Lytle and husband Greg, Jo Owens, nephew Lloyd Fernung, and many devoted nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Nettie Faye and Morris Clayton Owens and aunt Mary Magdeline Noe (Puggy).
A visitation for Kerry will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A reception will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
