Kim Leah Gebert, 57, lived her life to the fullest and retained vitality for meeting new people and creating lasting memories. She contributed to many avenues in life, both personally and professionally. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and grandmother in her personal life and a mentor in her professional life, throughout her many years of service at H-E-B.
Kim passed away October 29, in Austin, Texas after a courageous battle against brain cancer. She was surrounded by family and love.
She was preceded in death by her father Jim Bird, who affectionately dubbed her "Mik" and her father-in-law, Waylon Gebert. Kim is survived by Tom, her loving husband of 34 years and four children: Thomas Andrew, Matthew, Christopher, and Adam; and daughter-in-laws: Kim, Alicia, and Leslie Gebert and Chris' girlfriend Brittany. She was "Gigi" to 8 grandchildren: Travis, Renee, Alexander, Rylee, Barret, Reed, Kierstyn, and Brittany's son Liam. Her mother, Barbara Bird, siblings Stanley Bird, Steve Bird, and Durenda Weiss and their spouses: Sue Bird, Marina Bird, and Keith Weiss, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Hildegarde Gebert, her three brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws, their spouses, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends.
She loved being outdoors, whether being active to stay healthy or making memories with her grandchildren and family during yearly summer vacations. She cherished being a member of both the Acton United Methodist Church including the Seekers Class and St. John's Church of Pflugerville alongside the entire Richland community. She will also be remembered as someone who always made each experience something she and others could grow from. With a smile that could light up any room and her ability to become synonymous with the word awesome, in every sense of its definition, she was a blessing and a treasure to all those who knew her.
Her family would like to thank: all of her fellow H-E-B partners throughout her 15 wonderful years with the company, with whom she built amazing lifelong relationships as a mentor and a friend, all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers from Houston MD Anderson, Texas Oncology of Austin, Hospice of Austin, and Christopher House. We would also like to thank the village of love surrounding her during her entire journey.
Her inspiring presence will be deeply missed.
