

He was born in Austin, Texas on November 18th, 1935. Lewis graduated from McCallum High School as a member of the inaugural class of 1954. He was married to the love of his life, Barbara Wendland, on February 10th, 1956. Lewis enjoyed a long career in banking. He was instrumental in bringing the KAIROS Prison Ministry to Texas and served in it for many years. He was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Barbara Gillett. Children: Don Gillett of Houston; Sheryl Ketelsen and husband, Kimm of Tyler; Allan Gillett and wife, Liz of Cedar Creek; Kevin Gillett and wife, Jill of Hutto. His grandchildren: Amber Hardilek and husband, Zach; Jeff Gillett, Matthew Gillett, Tyler Gillett, Alyssa Gillett, Jonathan Gillett, Zachary Gillett, Christi Stevens and husband, John; and Julie Ketelsen. Seven great grandchildren (plus one on the way). Brother Jim Gillett and wife, Roslyn; sisters Doris Davis and husband, Dean; Pat Hixon and husband, Richard. Sister-in-law Kay Fleet, niece Rene Fleet and husband, Jeff; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Edgar and Vera Gillett; two step-brothers, Jack Hicks and Bob Hicks; his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Evelyn Wendland; and beloved nephew, Charles Fleet Jr.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to those who helped care for him towards the end of his life.
A visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 in the memorial chapel of the funeral home with a graveside to follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
