July 31, 1946 – June 16, 2025
Linda Margaret Bates, 78, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.
Born on July 31, 1946, in Margaretville, New York, Linda lived a life rich with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. She was known for her loving heart, joyful nature, and zest for life — a good person through and through, whose warmth could brighten any room. To know Linda was to be welcomed, accepted, and likely sent off with a smile and a laugh.
Linda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved fishing, especially during family camping trips at Jim Hogg Park, and treasured beach getaways to Port Aransas. She had a playful fondness for visits to the Winstar Casino and a lifelong love for animals — especially horses, cats, and most of all, dogs. She had a particular fondness for her chihuahuas, who were always close by. Linda also had a fun, quirky side and enjoyed watching B-horror movies, which brought her endless amusement.
But more than anything, Linda’s greatest joy was her family, who were the center of her world and the light of her life.
Linda shared a loving, caring 38-year marriage with her husband, Jim Bates. They did everything together — side by side in life, laughter, and love. Their bond was a constant source of strength, and their deep affection for one another was evident to all who knew them.
She is survived by Jim and by her loving brothers, Louis Bush (married to Cindy Bush) and George Bush (preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Bush). She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Bush.
Linda was a proud and loving mother to Barbara Campbell (married to Donald Campbell), Craig Hoffstatter (married to Lynn Hoffstatter), Charlie Hoffstatter (married to Kim Hoffstatter), and Brian Hoffstatter (partnered with Amy Green).
She was a cherished grandmother to Aaron Campbell and his wife Tristin, and their daughters Hayden and Harper; Allison Ramsey and her husband Richard; Cory Hoffstatter and his wife Hannah, and their children Hattie and Cole; Ayla Hoffstatter; Blake Hoffstatter; Kyle Hoffstatter and his son Cayden; Ashley DiLorenzo and her husband DyRell, and their sons Teagan and Reed; and Layne Hoffstatter.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Della Staton, and her husband Lester; and by her brothers-in-law John Bates, and Bill Bates (married to Debbie Bates). Linda also shared a special bond with her nephew, Eric, who lived with her and Jim for many years. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Linda’s life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave so freely — through her family, her laughter, her kindness, and the many memories she helped create. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Walden Room of the funeral home, with interment to follow at Corn Hill Cemetery, Jarrell, TX 76537.
