She is survived by her daughter, Michele T. Walty and son-in-law, Lloyd A. Walty, Jr., her sister Mary Jane Mahoney and her brothers, John C. Mahoney, Michael E. Mahoney and Patrick E. Mahoney and their respective spouses and children.
Linda considered herself a bona-fide cowgirl due to her lifelong friendship with Cathy Rockwell who taught her how to clean a chicken, feed a horse, and drink like a cowboy. Linda’s claim to fame is that she once had a drink with Nino Cochise.
Although Linda spent most of her career working for the Federal government, her true calling in life was to be a painter. She and her best friend, Nancy Kitching, would cover the kitchen in her home with plastic and paint for hours on end. In 2017, Linda was able to make one of her dreams come true and showed her work at the BACA Center in Round Rock, Texas.
Linda loved life, had a contagious laugh and never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone and loved to share her life stories. She loved her family fiercely and was loyal to her friends. Linda will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Mostly she will be missed by her son-in-law who now needs to find another “coffee buddy” and her daughter who loved her dearly and was blessed to have a loving, amazing and remarkable woman as her mother.
A Celebration of Life service for Linda will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Linda’s memory may be made to shadowcats.net. Guests are asked to wear bright colored clothing to the services.
