Lou Ann was born in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Claude Mead and Lulu Anna Mead. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1963. She married the love of her life, Terry, in 1966, who preceded her to heaven in 2023 after 56 years of marriage. In 1976 Lou Ann and her family moved to Austin, Texas. Lou Ann worked part time for Gourmet Gals and Guys catering service and she also sold Avon for almost 40 years. Her jobs were flexible which allowed her to spend ample time with her children and grandchildren. All of whom she loved dearly.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 3 children; daughter, Carrie Hopp and husband, Kirk, of Leander Texas; son, Scott DeVetter and wife Kelly of Austin; daughter, Tammy Van Houten and husband Brad of Round Rock. 7 grandchildren; grandson,Travis Hopp and wife Dannielle of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Brandon Hopp and wife Heather of Leander; grandson, Justin DeVetter of Austin; grandson, Dylan Van Houten and wife Rylee of Austin; grandson, Bryce Van Houten of Round Rock Texas; granddaughter, Jenna DeVetter of Austin; and granddaughter, Kadie Van Houten of Round Rock. 1 great granddaughter, Ivy Hopp of Leander; and sister Linda Shamon and husband Fred of Chesterton, Indiana.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30pm, on Sunday June 23rd at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will be celebrated following visitation at 2:30pm on Sunday June 23rd at the funeral home, with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Entombment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
Pallbearers are Scott DeVetter, Kirk Hopp, Brad Van Houten, Travis Hopp, Brandon Hopp, Justin DeVetter, Dylan Van Houten and Bryce Van Houten
