~ Louis E. Brown
I have fought the good fight…
Louis was born in Smithville, Texas to Ed and Mattie (Denmon) Brown. He was the 2nd child born to this union. He grew up in the community of Pin Oak and also in Page, Texas.
Louis entered the Navy in 1944 and was stationed in the Palau Islands in the Philippines during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the service on May 16, 1946 and came back to Bartlett where he lived with his sister Mary. Soon thereafter, he began dating Addie Mae Whittenburg. They dated for 9 months and married on March 5, 1947.
Louis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1947 and became a member of McKinley Heights C.O.G.I.C. under Pastor R.A. Grant. He was a member of the Deacon Board where he served as Head Deacon, Church Secretary, and taught Y.P.W.W. for 52 years. He united with Faith Cathedral C.O.G.I.C. where he served until his passing.
Louis worked in different occupations, but ultimately wanted to own his own business. He owned Brown’s Exxon in Manor for 24 years.
His parents, 7 siblings and his grandsons, Joe M. Hurd II and Shelton Jones, have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life: his loving wife of 67 years Addie Mae; four children: Agnes Williams, Ronald Brown (Judy), Myrtle Jones, and Candra Rogers (Eugene); fifteen grandchildren: Regina, Felicia, Xavier, Latasha, Jemahl, Michael, Rachel, Elyane, Alesia, Reginald, Carrington, Corrigan, Krystal, Chandler, and Ethan; seventeen great-grandchildren, eleven sisters and brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
