He was born on May 9, 1942 in Parral Chihuahua Mexico, the son of the late Jesus Jose Rey and Aurora Soto Rey. He was the 2nd oldest of 5 siblings: Cesar O. Rey, Jesus Jose Rey Jr, Federico Rey and Agnes Herrera. On July 1, 1961, he married his true love, Norina Rey.
After moving to Albuquerque New Mexico, he graduated from Albuquerque High School and went on to get a degree from the University of New Mexico. He was employed by IBM as a Lead System Design Architect and retired at 32 years.
He was a world traveler and always seemed to seek out new adventures. There wasn’t a continent he had not stepped foot on. He made quick friends with those he met. He was a problem solver and a forward thinker who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. There was nothing a good nap couldn’t fix. He passed on those traits and many more to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by anyone that knew him.
Luis was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Norina Rey, daughter and son-in-law Nadine and Mike Schlamp, son and daughter-in-law Cesar D and Noemi Rey: Grandchildren, David Schlamp and wife Stephanie, Alex Schlamp and Kayla, Austin Schlamp, Joseph Rey: Great Grandchildren, Olivia Schlamp, Christian Filby, and Aurora Schlamp.
