and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!
+Psalm 139:13-18 (NLT)
Ly Phong Lorn, age 72, currently of Katy, Texas, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 30, 2026. She was born Monday, June 15, 1953, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Yann Vong (father) and Chheng Guek (mother). Ly was a faithful servant of Christ, who dedicated her life to shining the Marvelous Light of God. Her life was a reflection of “Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:31, ESV), "Well done, my good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21, NLT), and "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7, NKJV).
Ly fled the Khmer Rouge and Killing Fields to Austin, Texas in 1980, as her family (husband, Sao Lorn, and two sons, Sao Pros Lorn and Sao Serey-Rithy Lorn) were all sponsored by First English Lutheran Church. She would learn the English language, worked primarily as a probe operator with Motorola, had a third son, Johnny Lorn, in 1990, became widowed in 1994, and graciously transitioned into early retirement in 2000.
She experienced the lowest of lows (such as enduring about 5 years in captivity in the Khmer Rouge concentration camps) to the highest of the highs (such as marriage and birth of her children) in her life journey that spanned from Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Austin, Texas to visiting various cities in California to Houston, Texas to Katy, Texas, with the most significant moment in her life being accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in September of 2007! She was shortly baptized at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, along with her youngest son, Johnny. Some of her favorite hobbies included gardening, going shopping, cooking, eating delicious healthy food with family and friends, and most recently learning to play pickleball. Ly Phong Lorn was a dedicated wife, a wonderful mother, a kind friend, a sweet sister, among many other great things, all overflowing from being a devoted, faithful, believer and follower of Jesus Christ!+
You have decided the length of our lives.
You know how many months we will live,
and we are not given a minute longer.
+Job 14:5 (NLT)
Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.
+Psalm 116:15 (ESV)
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
+John 16:33 (NLT)
Ly Phong Lorn is survived by her 3 sons, Sao Pros Lorn, Sao Serey-Rithy Lorn, and Johnny Lorn, with 3 grandchildren currently as she entered into the Gates of Heaven: Alex Lorn, Elizabeth Lorn, and Joshua Serey-Daniel Lorn.
Selected by her choice in her last will and testament to be shared at this appointed end of her life here on earth and as she passes into eternity with all the angels and the saints:
I, Ly Phong Lorn, a resident of Katy in Waller County, Texas, being of sound mind, disposing memory, full legal age and thankful to Almighty God for life and all He has graciously entrusted to me, knowing the uncertainties of life and desiring to make a fitting and public witness to my Christian faith, I now commit my soul unto the hands of my Savior, Jesus Christ, in full trust and confidence that having redeemed it and washed it in His most precious blood, He will present it faultless before the throne of my Heavenly Father, not because of works of righteousness that I have done, but according to His marvelous grace and mercy through his atoning death on the cross of Calvary. My deepest wish is that all who read or hear this will have, or will come to have, that same trust in Jesus, so that we might all be reunited in heaven forever.
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.
