

Marcene Herbert (Herb) Frosch, 93 of Arlington Texas passed away on Monday, April 10th while resting peacefully at Avalon Memory Care in Arlington, Texas. Herb was born to Herbert Otto and Lina Ann (Winkler) Frosch on October 16, 1929 in Paige, Texas.
He graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and joined the Navy. While in the Navy, Herb traveled the seas to Japan, Guam, Italy, Puerto Rico and several other countries. He married Evelyn Grace Kieschnick on November 15, 1953. Herb and Evelyn were stationed in Corpus Christi, San Diego and San Francisco before relocating to the Hague, Netherlands where he served as an attaché with the American Embassy. Daughter, Karen, and son, James, were born in the Hague in 1957 and 1958 while they were stationed in the Hague. They then moved to Virginia Beach, VA where son, Robert, was born in 1961. Herb retired from the Navy in June of 1968 after 20 years of service and the family settled in Austin, Texas where he and Evelyn would live until 2019. Herb’s second career was with the Texas Teachers Retirement System where he dedicated over twenty years of service.
Herb was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with Jimmy and Robert fishing or coaching them in little league. He was an avid golfer and was very proud of the four hole-in-ones that he shot. When he was not fishing Herb was playing dominoes with his “domino group”. The group started many years ago at Teachers Retirement and Herb continued to play until he moved to Arlington in 2019. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church for the past 50+ years and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League.
Herb is survived by daughter Karen Terry and husband Floyd, son James Frosch and wife Jill, granddaughters Hannah and Meredith and step-granddaughters, Katie, Amy and Leslie; brothers Clifton Frosch, Curtis & Mary Ann Frosch, Wesley & Mary Frosch, Eldor & Sue Frosch, Wayne & Ferne Frosch and Sherwood & Janet Frosch, sister Sharon and Jimmy Kunkel; sister-in-law Violet Frosch as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and son Robert; his parents, Herbert and Lena Frosch; brothers Milton Frosch and Leroy Frosch; sisters Lena Mae Vogel and Lucille Sanders; brothers-in-law Louis Sanders and Jerry Vogel; sisters-in-law Gladys Frosch and Bernice Frosch.
Karen and Jimmy express a sincere thanks to the Avalon team who cared for their father for the past three years. The care, compassion and dignity afforded to their father has provided a great deal of comfort to the family.
A visitation for Marcene will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W Anderson Ln., Austin, TX 78757. A committal service will occur Monday, April 17, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
