Melissa was born in Austin, Texas, on January 14, 1989. She spent her early childhood in Austin before moving with her mother, stepfather and brother to Pflugerville, Texas, through her teenage years. In 2007, she met and later married her best friend and love of her life, Dallas. Together, they had a precious baby boy in 2009. Raising Darren was the highlight of Melissa's life and being his mother brought her pure joy. She also dearly loved her stepson, Derrick, and was proud to be a blended family.
From an early age, Melissa had a passion for working with children. Her experiences in the daycare setting, with encouragement from professional mentors and parents alike, eventually led Melissa to pursue her dreams of opening her own in-home childcare services. In addition to her passion for children, Melissa enjoyed couponing, crafting and Cowboys football. Above all, faith and family came first in Melissa's life.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Dallas Williamson (Round Rock, TX), and sons Darren and Derrick, mother Ruby Neave (Round Rock, TX), and brother Miguel Garcia (Austin, TX). She is also survived by siblings Genaro Moreno (Austin, TX), Angel Moreno (Austin, TX), Erika C. Moreno (Austin, TX), and Emmanuel Moreno (Austin, TX), and grandparents Ray Cortez, Sr., and Elisa P. Cortez (Round Rock, TX) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration of a donation in memoriam to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org). Melissa was a brave warrior lost too soon in the fight for a cure.
