

Melvin Dillard Dailey 85, of Cedar Park, Texas passed away on March 26, 2025 at Arden Courts Memory Care of Austin. Melvin was born on September 2, 1939 in Round Rock, Texas to the late Dillard Dailey and Doris Burklund.
Melvin graduated from the A.N. McCallum High School in 1957. Soon after he married his high school sweetheart Helen Louise Herrin and started a family in the Austin area. Early on, Melvin joined the Army National Guard and served 10+ years stationed at Camp Mabry Austin. Although never deployed, Melvin was very proud of his service and the longtime friends he made in the National Guard. He started a career working for the Texas State Board of Insurance, as an insurance examiner. After a long career, he retired for a while but then a few of his insurance buddies started Insurance Services Office (ISO) and pulled him back in to work for them. After several more years with ISO, he retired for a second and final time.
Early in life Melvin enjoyed weekend company with his family at the lake, hunting and fishing with his work and National Guard buddies, coaching little league baseball, and yearly trips to the Houston rodeo. All great times and memories with family and special friends. Late in life, after moving to Bastrop in 1982, Melvin found his love for small time ranching and restoring antiques. This is included raising Limousine cattle, cutting and bailing hay, restoring his pride and joy a 1930 Ford Victoria, along with a vintage cash register and Texaco Gas Pump.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Helen Louise Dailey of Cedar Park. Melvin is survived by daughter Karen and husband Bobby of Cedar Park, Texas, Son Gary and husband Rick of Cedar Park, Texas. Melvin is also survived by his Grandson Jaden of Cedar Park, granddaughter Amanda of Houston, Texas and two grand dogs, Riley and Patch. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Melvin loved his family and friends, never met a stranger, and truly loved his simple country life in Bastrop and Cedar Park. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We love you!

A very special and sincere thank you to nurses Odessa and Jennifer, and caregivers Nadia and Kevin who truly took great care of dad day end and day out. Their love and compassion are truly inspiring and appreciated!
A graveside service for Melvin will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
