

Michael Monroe Calhoun Owen was born April 1, 1967, in Los Angeles, California. He was adopted by Richard Manfred and Mary Virginia (Ginger) Brown Owen. His family lived in Long Beach, California, Sudbury, Massachusetts and Orlando, Florida before moving to Garland, Texas in 1975. In June of 1982, Michael moved to Burnet, Texas where he finished high school in May of 1986. He attended Schreiner University in Kerrville and Southern Methodist University (SMU) as a Broadcast Journalist.
After many years of working in North Texas and New York City, Michael moved to Round Rock in June of 2014. Michael and Robin were married on his 50th birthday, April 1, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. After a long illness, he passed away at home on June 26, 2025.
Michael’s great passions were sports – reporting on hockey, football, basketball and baseball as well as umpiring lacrosse on the high school and college levels. He also loved listening to and performing music. His secret dream was to write a food blog or a cookbook.
He is survived by his wife, Robin of Round Rock. Michael’s great love and pride was his children and grandchildren: daughter Natasha of Bastrop, son Richard (Fernanda) of Dallas, daughter Laura of Dallas, daughter Amanda (Ashton) of Omaha, Nebraska and daughter Lexie of Lubbock. His grandchildren include 2 grandsons: Mason (Natasha) and Jameson (Laura) as well as 2 granddaughters: Makenzie and Madison (Natasha). He also leaves his father Richard Manfred Owen and sister Virginia (Ginny) Owen Snyder (Jim) of Waxahachie, Texas. Michael had a niece, 2 nephews, 2 great nephews and 1 great niece.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made to the Williamson County Animal Shelter or the American Liver Foundation.
A celebration of life for Michael will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
