

Myrtle Leah Swan Dean passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the age of 91. She was born in Buda, Texas on September 2, 1924 to Mary Janie and Frank Swan, Sr. Myrtle grew up in and lived in Austin, Texas until 2008 when she moved to Georgetown, Texas. Myrtle was married to Monroe James (MJ) Dean for 58 years until his passing in 2007.
Myrtle spent her life devoted to her faith and was a proud member of the Gideons International Organization where she made many lifelong friendships and enjoyed volunteering her time to serve others. Myrtle and MJ were longtime members of Skyview Baptist Church and she was also a proud member of the Skyview Kitchen Band. Myrtle spent many years operating a day care in her home and made a lasting impression on the children who spent time with her. She later enjoyed keeping MJ company in his big rig on long hauls across the country. She was an adventurous person who loved to stay on the go until her health slowed her down. She enjoyed playing dominoes and completing word searches to pass the time. Myrtle was a very loving and thoughtful person who was always helping others and leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her bright smile and warm hugs dearly.
She was preceded in her death by her parents; brothers, Frank, Jr., David and Lambert Swan; sister, Lucille Hastings and grandson, Christopher Dean.
She is survived by 3 sons: Jimmy (Mary), Ronnie, and Randy (Sophia) Dean; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Jim) Neyland and brother, Walter Swan.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
