

Nancy Faye Welch Schultz, aged 83, passed away peacefully Saturday the 20th of January 2024, in Austin, Texas surrounded by family. She was born on August 21st, 1940, in San Antonio, Tx. to Milus and Dorine Welch. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Tx. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School during her primary years and graduated from McAllen High School in 1958. It was during high school that she met her high school sweetheart, Fred Schultz Sr. They were married on July 11, 1959, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Tx. She attended McAllen Business College and obtained her degree in Financial Management.
Nancy worked in the banking industry all her professional career. She started with McAllen State Bank as a Teller and later advanced to Senior Vice President and Executive Assistant to Glen Roney. She assisted Mr. Roney in forming Texas State Bank and later forming Texas Regional Bank Shares. Nancy was also involved in grant funding for women’s healthcare, mammograms, and cancer research. Her hobbies included playing Mahjong with friends, being active in PEO chapters in McAllen and Rockport, Tx. She spent many years sewing and doing cross stitch and embroidery projects for her family and friends. Nancy had a great love for traveling, including many cruises with her lifelong friends. On a regular basis Nancy enjoyed her morning coffee with Fred Sr. while watching birds at her feeders and in the evenings, you could find her enjoying a glass of wine with her husband. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them through their various extracurricular activities.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Fred Schultz Sr., Daughter Deborah Schultz of Austin, daughter-in-law Brenda Hugo Schultz of Brenham, Grandchildren Cameron Schultz of Riviera, Tx, Brittany Schultz and Fiancé Justin Hockett of Navasota, Tx, and Emily Schultz of College Station, Tx. She is preceded in death by her parents Milus and Dorine Welch, brothers and sister's in-law, Milus “Buddy” and Barbara Welch, Charles and Lillian Welch, Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lawrence and Ann Schultz, and her son, Fred Allen Schultz Jr.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation in memory of Nancy Schultz. Donations can be made at www.alz.org
