Our beloved Nettie Inez Brothers Raymond, age 91 was called by our Heavenly Father on December 31, 2011 in Wimberley, Texas. Nettie Inez was born in Winters, Texas on October 10, 1920 to Travis and Sarah Brothers, the eldest of eleven children. Nettie married Irvin Lester Raymond on April 2, 1938 and they were married for 65 years.
Nettie is preceded in death by her husband: Irving Lester Raymond, brothers: Raymond and Gaylon Brothers, Sisters: Audrey Brothers Woodcock and Edna Brothers Glenn.
Nettie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a genuine friend to all who knew or met her. She prayed for us all, sent cards of love and encouragement for all occasions to family and friends, and gave much toward the care of others. She prepared countless meals for close and extended family, and holidays were a special occasion with much of her good food and good cheer. We will forever miss the crispy tacos, chocolate bread pudding, chocolate pies, and divinity candy. While she always spoke in a kind manner and lived in harmony with others, Nettie had a fun-loving spirit, a great sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. She inspired us all with her servant leadership, her kindness and genuine concern for others, and unconditional love for her family.
Nettie worked as a bookkeeper in the retail business for several years, but her true labor of love was service to her family, church, and to the Lord. She worked side by side with her husband in building and supporting the activities of the many churches they pastored in the years they were married. She loved reading and studying the Bible, leading women’s Bible studies, managing the church day care centers, and organizing prayer chains in the countless number of churches they pastored.
Nettie is survived by her children, Alice Belle and husband Ronnie Walton of Oklahoma, Curtis D. Raymond of Austin, and Darrell W. and wife Florence C. Raymond of Buda, sisters: Edith Frazier of Batson, Gerolene and husband Marshall Shedd of Mathis, Janie and husband Lawrence Selensky of Pflugerville, brothers: James and wife Dorothy Brothers of San Antonio, Glen and wife Shirley Brothers of Richmond, Billy Brothers of San Angelo, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 13 great, great grandchildren, 31 nieces and nephews and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
